A handful of Motu-nui Romney rams, highlighting the depth and solid structure

Motu-nui Romney & FE Romney

When looking for a sheep suited to New Zealand hill country, the New Zealand Romney is extremely hard to look past. The Motu-nui team have spent 3 generations selecting for Romney’s that suit our needs. Located on the East coast of New Zealand means the Romney’s natural level of hardiness has been put to the test for many years, with only the very best being retained. The ewes that don’t cut the mustard are culled and removed, with only the best retained for another season; its that simple.

The Motu-nui Romney:

  • Highly fertile

  • Strong maternal instinct

  • Extremely hardy and robust

  • High innate survival

  • Adaptable to climate and terrain

  • Sound feet

  • Not only survive, but thrive in conditions when others won’t simply won’t

  • Excellent structure, with a deep barrel

FE Motu-nui Romney’s are available to purchase. These rams are by FE tested sires, with progeny tested at Motu-nui.
